Aura Way up or Aura Way Down?

Most therapies end in an aura massage.
Here’s an easy way to decide on the direction their aura massage should go.

We need to look at Yin and Yang energies first. (Please forgive my drawing ability).
Yin and Yang are both the same energy but are ascribed to the direction in which they flow.

Yang energy comes down from the Sun to Earth. It provides energy to the Earth causing a reaction – Yin energy to rise back up to the Sun. Plants grow etc.

On animals, yang energy flows down the back and yin, up the front. Humans are no different except we stand up.

What does your client need? Which one do you need to enhance or reduce?
Yang, the stimulating wake-up energy by going down the back or down the front to reduce the yin; or
Yin, the relaxing, sleepy energy by going up the front or down the back to reduce the yang?

Remember...
Head to toe and ready to go
Toe to head and ready for bed

PS, my psychiatrist asked if I could draw the pig looking round…so I did:

Repair to the Reading Room

The weirdest reading ever - unless you tell me different.

I have often said ‘one can read anything’. This is based on the idea that the whole universe dances to the same energies. The expression of these energies is through changes to anything we can perceive. The greater the change the more likely we are able to notice it in our lives.
OK, you may ask what sort of reading I could for someone on something that doesn’t apparently change?… well their lives don’t. IE they continue as normal. Not a very interesting reading.

So here we go….what shall I read?
Not cards, stars, pendulums, tea leaves, people, face, feet, or even shoes……
But a week’s repair situation to my home!

These are the main considerations…how would you read these? (I will supply a bit more detail with my reading of it.)

General – long term outstanding repairs due by Landlord now with a complaints agency.
Thursday
Gales blew roof and skylight housing into my garden;
Myrtle plant undamaged, pot broken, fence only just repaired, now broken again;
Monday
Downstairs toilet cistern fell way from the wall causing leak;
Monday/Tuesday
Various power glitches switching off my computer.
Wednesday
Garden debris removed
Complaints Agency advises that they are progressing my case re general poor repair situation
Friday
Gave praise where it is due to one staff of the Landlord.
Saturday
Plant re-potted

This is my reading of it. The outcomes occured either on the day in question or within 2 days so I am still waiting for the last items to be fulfilled.

The roof overhead represents the ego (Air) which came crashing down to a harsh reality (Earth). Lucky it wasn’t my roof. So someone else’s’ ego was affected by my reality.
The Myrtle remained intact. Shaken but not stirred. Being like a breath of fresh air, my thoughts and ideas about things remain firmly rooted but must move on (new pot required).
The fence represents protection and security. I temporarily filled the gap like I did last time (mainly to stop the dog escaping). Albeit a small hole this does represent some insecurity which is balanced by ‘DIY’ – l cannot be reliant on others for my personal well-being.
The cistern. It holds water (emotion) but leaked. An emotional outpouring which was contained by plugging up the leak (DIY again). It was not out in the open like the other events and was properly repaired in the dark of night. The plumber came at 8pm. Funnily enough another plumber appeared the next day. (See previous posts on the 48 hour day). This means although there was a temporary set-back, I do have loads of emotional support.
Power glitches. Inability to even consider engaging in power struggles.
With the garden debris cleared away, things are looking better. People’s egos restored. And, on the same day, a supportive note arrived from the Complaints Agency meaning I have friends in high places. Chronic issues are on the way to resolution. Better still!
To end the week, socially back to normal and my Myrtles in a proud new pot.
Everything in the garden is rosy.

..at least for the time being.

It is one of the most difficult things trying to do a reading on yourself. Readers need to remain detached so I have probably unintentionally shaped the reading to suit the other things that were going on in my life…which, believe me, were duly reflected.

If you have any other ideas good, bad or ugly that could make this read even more realistic, they will be gratefully received. But remember like all reads …these are for entertainment only and not self-fulfilling prophecy I don’t want another roof appearing in my garden.

Post script: My predictions for the end of the week became true when I was taken on a meditational journey to a garden! Yes it was rosy and there was a lot of pleasant social time!

Magical Moments – A new definition

In a later post I will endeavour to give my simple views on time, space and how we are trapped in time giving the phrase ‘thinking outside the box’ a new dimension.

Others are well ahead of me and can magic up time distortion at will.

As I haven’t mastered this yet, I don’t have the time to do it now but I thought I’d post some examples.

Have you experienced any of these events?

The 48 hour day: A local service is able to say ‘it will be done today’. On questioning why it wasn’t done ‘today’, I was told that ‘day’ includes tomorrow as well.

Fantastic, just think what we could achieve with all that extra time.

The everlasting minute: Have you noticed how some trains can 'approach in 1 minute' which can take 10 or more?

Imagine what heaven we can all have if a moment of joy is everlasting!

Santa – you already know all about, I’ll say no more.

Comments and more examples are most welcome. And if you know how this is done….please let me know.

Kicking up a stink in the AT world

This is what I get (in reverse order it is a copy of my e mail)... what do you think? (Names have been removed by request).
I think this is very dangerous... So much for being and aromatherapist let alone teacher of it! I replied:
I do need the minutes for the meeting. All businesses have to keep their records for 6 or more years….err taxman etc.
Please recover and send asap. Please beware of not using ‘voluntary’ more in the new AC website. As a member I trust I would not be accountable for this oversight.
Thank you for the power point presentation.

They replied to me:

Dear Gill The Consortium no longer exists and therefore the minutes of the Consortium are no longer on the old Consortium website, now deleted. The information in the minutes is now obsolete as is my powerpoint presentation from the information day. Things have now moved on from July 2006 and the information is out of date. However, I am quite happy to attach it for your personal information. The best thing if people you know have questions about regulation is to deirect them to our website or ask them to call the AC office. The Council is now in existence as from the 1st December 2006 as the official voluntary self-regulatory body for the UK aromatherapy profession. It clearly states this on the “About the AC” page. Established in December 2006, the Aromatherapy Council (AC) is the Voluntary Self-Regulatory body for the Aromatherapy profession within the UK. This makes it perfectly clear and we also make this clear in all press releases. The Constitution also makes this distinction, so there would be no “legal issues” as you say and certainly no false impressions and we make this clear to all callers to the office that the register is voluntary but essential to the furtherance of the profession. If you remember we gave everyone free extended membership of the Consortium to November 2006 as we were unable to get everything ready for the register for 1st October as hoped. In effect you have received 12 months registration. Kind regards Carole Preen AC Office Tel: 0870 7743477 Website: http://www.aromatherapycouncil.co.uk/

From: Gill [mailto:Higher_Circles@hotmail.com] Sent: 22 January 2007 14:21 To: info@aromatherapycouncil.co.uk Subject: Voluntary Regulation
Hi, Sometime ago I asked where the minutes of the AC’s meeting dated 14/07/06 were on the website. You said that the site was being changed, so I have looked at the new one. There are no minutes there, so I hope you can mail them to me. Perhaps along with Ian Smith’s presentation and accompanying transcripts? I am often asked about regulation and these would be of great help to me as well as for my personal research and records. Access was promised at the meeting and aren’t they a right for members/attendees? Secondly, I notice on the new site that ‘voluntary’ is rarely mentioned whereas ‘regulation’ is very frequent. I do feel that it would be helpful if ‘voluntary’ is inserted before every occurrence of ‘regulation’ as it may lead to false impressions and legal issues arising. Thirdly, I notice that the membership of the new AC expires in September 07. I was given the impression that membership would be annual. Why the change and shouldn’t the fee have been reduced accordingly? Looking forward to your reply and minutes etc. Regards Gill Avart

Cosmic Ordering can go wrong!

Maybe it’s karma but I forwarded this joke e-mail to family and friends – don’t send it on! It must appear on someone’s cosmic ordering service and horribly mis-fired, it came straight to me instead!

I now have someone's roof in my garden rather than a roof garden.

Now …. If only I could figure out how to do it properly.
In future I will send only messages of love, joy and abundance.

The e-mail reads:
A major hurricane (Hurricane Shazza) and earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale hit Essex in the early hours of Friday with its epicentre in Basildon. Victims were seen wandering around aimlessly, muttering "Faaackinell". The hurricane decimated the area causing approximately £30 worth of damage. Several priceless collections of mementos from Majorca and the Costa Del Sol were damaged beyond repair. Three areas of historic burnt out cars were disturbed. Many locals were woken well before their giros arrived. Essex FM reported that hundreds of residents were confused and bewildered and were still trying to come to terms with the fact that something interesting had happened in Basildon. One resident - Tracy Sharon Smith, a 15-year-old mother of 5 said, "It was such a shock, my little Chardonnay-Mercedes came running into my bedroom crying. My youngest two, Tyler-Morgan and Victoria-Storm slept through it all. I as still shaking when I was skinning up and watching Trisha the next morning." Apparently looting, muggings and car crime were unaffected and carried on as normal. The British Red Cross has so far managed to ship 4,000 crates of Sunny Delight (orange juice) to the area to help the stricken locals. Rescue workers are still searching through the rubble and have found large quantities of personal belongings, including benefit books, jewellery from Elizabeth Duke at Argos and Bone China from Pound Land. HOW CAN YOU HELP? This appeal is to raise money for food and clothing parcels for those unfortunate enough to be caught up in this disaster. Clothing is most sought after - items most needed include: Fila or Burberry baseball caps Kappa tracksuit tops (his and hers) Shell suits (female) White sport socks Rockport boots Any other items usually sold in Primark. Food parcels may be harder to come by, but are needed all the same. Required foodstuffs include: Microwave meals, Tins of baked beans, Ice cream, Cans of Colt 45 or Special Brew. 22p buys a biro for filling in the compensation forms. £2 buys chips, crisps and blue fizzy drinks for a family of 9. £5 buys B&H and a lighter to calm the nerves of those affected.
PS
Please do not send tents as moving to superior housing can cause distress.

Reflexology Finesse – Holding onto your clients.

This picture shows how to hold the feet when working on the upper areas using the classic ‘c’ hold.

What do you do with your spare fingers when you are thumb-walking (or finger walking where appropriate)?

It is uncomfortable for the client if you press in where you are not working so try to avoid this pressure. So how do you do this?

Easy - use yourself to rest on.

In this picture the fingers of the working hand are gently resting on the holding hand.

Thus hold onto clients while you’re working and you hold onto them as they are more likely to re-book.

Err...please remember to cut your nails!

Choosing an awarding body?

Structure and requirements for complementary therapy have been defined with the national occupational standards. NOS.

This means that any awarding body should adhere to these. So do check out whether they adhere to the NOS or not.

ITEC
In the past, their theory exams where 3 hours of essay, they have now adopted multiple choice. One practical exam is performed with a 60% pass mark.

VTCT
Their standards are absolutely ‘minimalist’. This is why they expect 100% correctness to pass as ‘competent’. But the student will be offered many attempts to accomplish competence…if at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again.
In other words, the VTCT’s 100% = the ITEC’s 60% (practical)
Yes you can get better at the job but you can’t get worse.
For some therapies, there are theory multiple choice tests but it is more practically challenging than ITEC because there are 3 practical assessments to pass. (All at 100%)

ABC
There are the awarding body for the AOR – Association of Reflexologists. They have a written paper (not multiple choice) and one practical assessment. They are similar to the ‘old’ ITEC. In other words, challenging and likely to produce near experts immediately.

Reiki
No tests just practice – who on Earth can document whether you are able to distance heal or not. It is in the lap of the Gods. Just make sure you find a Reiki Master who applies the NOS which are currently still draft.

BSY group
They do not appear to adhere to anything. Beware, check them thoroughly first – they may have changed since I last contacted them.

Overall – whoever you choose to study with ask these questions:
Can you get insurance to practice afterwards?
Which association can you join after successful completion?

Essay format over multiple choice?
The advantage of multiple choice is that it makes life easier to mark the papers and supplies a robust quality assurance to the overseeing government department. IE good for the awarding body, less of my time to pay for. But:
The disadvantage of this is that the essay’s approach also gave the students a chance to show their ability to communicate. You were put on the spot as if you had a client in front of you asking questions. Multiple choice takes this away and one of the answers is true – you don’t have customers supplying you with the answers, you have to know them!
I feel that the essay approach was fuller than the current method and checked your communication skills far more in-depth than an observation of practical - but you will find that out once you get working. It’s up to you as always!

I have seen something like this somewhere:

Definition of practitioner, expert and master (not in the Reiki sense).

A practitioner can perform the basic skill to a satisfactory conclusion. (You have just passed your exams).
An expert can perform the skill, learn more and apply these variations to it thus making improvements. (You have had at least a year of experience and plenty of CPD)
A master takes learning further by breaking the rules and applying innovations. (Teaches it.)

I hope that everyone taking my courses becomes at least an expert.

This link may advise further although he does not use the term master:

Good luck.
