Phenomenal Paranormal Parade at Shepton Mallet Prison 14th August 21
Friday the 13th – is it a good or bad omen?
Well
that’s the day we travelled down to Shepton Mallet near Glastonbury, in
Somerset UK. We were looking forward to joining in Ghost Hunt UK’s paranormal
investigation of the now closed (but perhaps still inhabited} Prison the
following day.
It being a prison, we thought we had better first “case the joint” in daylight
With
the Moon in Scorpio it boded well for anything paranormal. FAB.
If
the skies were clear (partly) we would be able to see Jupiter and Saturn (which
we did) and perhaps the remnants of the Perseid meteor shower (which we
didn’t). But we saw and experienced an awful lot more…
I have to say Ghost Hunt UK are quite brilliant in their organisation and deserve a special gold star for their attention to health and safety both physical and spiritual.
We were split into groups of around 5 – 7 with a team leader for each expedition. There was penalty of equipment to try: voice recorders, EVP monitors, spirit boxes (oo-err scary) and Ouija boards. Other equipment included a laptop using video technology to pick up and display spirit energy and temperature gauges.
A Block
Block A consisted of 3 floors with the upper galleries protected by a netting – just in case. The EVPs were busy lighting up and able to answer questions with flashes for yes or no responses. A stick character appeared on the laptop – none of us indeed! I used a voice recorder to send a lady who felt unworthy into the light. I think it worked. Other clairvoyant imagery was abundant. And my , Jane swayed to the ethereal spirits present. Mike, the team leader asked the spirits to “show us something.” A mass of (possibly) paper bits fell onto the netting above us – there were no living people above us. Now that was spooky. We were gently shown that we were not alone.
With
a similar layout to Block A, it was here that the Krays were imprisoned, however,
their cells were not as active as numbers 12 to 14. I could not enter number 12
and steered clear of the others too.
There were about three people in the cell 14 with the oculus in 13 going mental with its light display. The group leader was asking the spirits to shut the door of 14 and do their worst. Then they all rushed out at once. Not certain what happened to spook them but no sooner had the last one left, the door slammed shut with such a noise.
Whilst other members of the group were attracted to this area, I made my way around the gallery to slump (I had a bad back and needed the rest) on the barrier outside cell number 5. Before that, I popped into number 4 which I felt needed “cleaning.” I performed a Reiki cleanse which seemed to make it feel better.
One of the ladies on the opposite side had a spirit box which said “five,” “five,” “five.” They were wondering what that meant and looked in my direction at which point the box said “ask the psychic.” Jane immediately pointed to me - “that’s her.” I was certainly not expecting to have to work as much! So with eyes shut, I related what I saw. (A woman had hung herself there).
There was a break and off to the Execution Room
On route to the hanging room, we passed the “night before” room, where, on the fated morning, the prison guards would slide a bookcase to reveal the doorway that led directly into the execution room. The team leader set up some equipment there. This felt so bad; I hurried past it into the main room.
It
was only here that we introduced ourselves very briefly as we stood around the
railing. The spirit box said “stop recording” (although some didn’t).
Exhausted,
I found a chair to sit on. The team leader said that he could smell Deep Heat.
At which point I raised my hand and guiltily said it was me.
People
were wondering what all this meant when suddenly the spirit box said “Gill knows”
Who
me? Not again, and my name too. What the….
OK, let’s put this in perspective. Eyes shut:
I thought
there was a lot of infant mortality during Pete’s time, I felt he didn’t do it
but he was a “wrong un” and probably would have ended up there anyway.
Although
I am still waiting to hear if any of the recordings included spirit voices,
I wonder if there are records of the lady in cell 5 and Pete in the execution room?
I
was impressed by the equipment etc. used by Ghost Hunt UK but I became
suspicious of the spirit box when I heard that the lady had downloaded it from the
internet. It could contain all sorts of random vocabulary – after all there
must be at least one psychic in a small group and I was last to speak when we introduced
ourselves. However that does not explain cell door 14 slamming, the paper pieces (who pick them up?) nor number 5
being uttered several times by the spirit box.
