Last month a friend and I went on a ghost hunting night
at Saltmarshe hall.
Here we are, my first “selfie” err... a wrinkly selfie. No
we’re not the ghosts - I’m the one in the dark glasses. Saltmarshe Hall is in
the background.
Set in the middle of nowhere, we stayed at a super
B&B adjacent to the hall. Apple tree Cottage – thoroughly recommended.
The event began at 9pm. There was a lead Medium and a number
of assistants. The various bits of equipment intended for use were described. There
being about 16 participants, we were split into two groups.
Here are my experiences of some of the activities:
We all stood around the edges of this cellar (lights off), held hands
and created energy flow (could have been more effective if done differently but
hey ho). My friend was selected by spirit to be the first pendulum. She stood
in the centre and with one medium in front and one behind she swayed to and fro to give a yes or no answer,
This "before" picture has been cleaned up IE "brightened" :
During the episode one assistant took another photo
showing a red light. Here it is before
and after cleaning up the image:
Well it is not on
my friend but above the medium’s arm. Could it be that a night vision slow-time
camera picked up his watch or button shine as he moved his hand down? Any ideas?
Was it spirit? I certainly saw a large vortex of faint light coming down into my friend’s
head. It was there most of the time. The camera did not pick that one up.
The
Tipping Table
Whilst there was a lot of
information coming from the pendulum, and this occurred throughout the event,
there were many leading questions and auto suggestions coming from some of
the mediums. Almost forcing spirit to communicate through mass hysteria.
A young woman came though.
We were trying to determine her name. With no luck initially, I thought I would
put in one of these “suggestions” myself. Well, all the names received so far
had been connected with royalty (Edward, George and so on) so how about “Victoria”. This was immediately
snapped up by the medium. Who’s to say
that was real or not but hey ho again.
The most funny tipping table
episode was:
Are you a man – NO
Are you a woman – NO
We pondered and then
someone asked:
Are you a lady – YES
In another part of the building (a different cellar) the
tipping table connected with a participant’s departed friend and not someone
from the Hall. She was asking many questions about this person yet maintained
contact with the board. I asked her to take her finger off it to reduce the likelihood
of her physical influence – basically just to let the spirit come though. I thought our
guide medium could have done that. Things worked here better than other parts
of the building we tried.
Ouija
board
Nothing to report – it barely worked for our group.
Although I gather the other group had more success.
Other
items of equipment etc
None used. Well there was something on the floor that lit
up occasionally. I have no idea what it was and as there was no feedback given either
at the time nor at the end of the night, we were left in the dark. I was
disappointed that other bits and pieces of thingamabobs had not been tried out.
No orbs were seen nor ghostly sounds heard.
Overall, it was a worthwhile fun spooky experience but
could have been a lot better and more informative.
