When Enhancement is not Enchantment
So, on the night of the lunar eclipse on the 7th September 2025 at 7.25pm, I had a phone call: ”Come on, let’s go to the seafront to see the eclipse” (or the blood moon darkened by the penumbra and the thicker atmosphere through the horizon). The eclipse itself occurred below the horizon but we should have been able to see the Moon coming out of it.
Of course there were clouds but we waited about half an
hour and saw… well was it a bird? – ha no, a plane? – possibly or the Moon.
Yes there it was, not bloody but white and bright illuminating
the surrounding clouds. This was reminiscent
of an awesome painting at my Grandparent’s home.
An exciting moment indeed. So memorable in many ways.
I also predicted that it would rise above my garden shed about
9.20 pm. I was right and with the fading
clouds, it shone in all its beauty as it transited across the southeastern
horizon. Awesome.
Later, I wanted to transfer the pictures to my computer. My
phone suggested an enhancement. I went with it and got a “stock” shot of the
Moon. No memories, no excitement nor spontaneity. I was relieved it didn’t delete
the original.
This is an example of the now deleted impage - many thanks to NASA.
