No Hands Reiki - The light touch?

I have had reports that some students are being taught 'no hands' Reiki.
I use this term because the hand positions are held several inches away from the body. In other words, they don't touch.

Surely this is aura healing?
I used to finish off the session (and any complementary therapy) with some auric work but unless it is distance healing, Reiki needs a practical hands on approach. (modesty always intact of course).

Here's my ideas on how it works. Try it yourself now:
1. Place a hand on your knee;
2 Your knee's nerves sense the pressure - no matter how light;
3. With the body's heat not being dispersed from the hand or the body part, the nerves pick up that sensation of excess heat;
4. Where heat is present, the capillaries dilate bringing more blood to the area;
5. The blood brings more nutrients, oxygen and 'antibug' agents to the area....and removes waste;
6. Simultaneously, the mind becomes more conscious of the area amplifying the physical healing effect.

This combination is very unlikely to happen if you hover your hand over the area.
So hands off our hands on approach please.
