By Association

Over a quarter of a century ago UK businesses were downsizing creating leaner, fitter and flatter more economically viable concerns. Layers of management were removed -the major players are still here today albeit in a different form. Downsizing is with us still.

This works. So why is the complementary therapy world, already festooned with associations, adding on the extra layer through regulatory bodies? It does not make financial sense to me unless you are in the pay of such.

It was once known that associations were there to protect the public – they provided insurance of appropriately qualified members – they still do. Yet the new layer’s remit is now said to protect the public. …
All at additional cost to the practitioner hence fees to the clients.

I am glad to have done my bit for therapies and clients over the last 16 years but now its time to say bye bye to associations.

Convince me if I am wrong.
